Media Students' Industry Taster Day at Staffordshire Uni

Head of Media Studies at the College, Lauren Maxwell, explains:

The Media Studies department travelled to Staffordshire University for a media industries taster day led by Film, television and radio lecturer, Gavin Samways, of the Department of Media, Performance and Communication. The students attended television, podcasting and photography workshops throughout the day, where they used industry standard equipment to record a live TV studio broadcast for a chat show, a mini podcast for OMG (the local radio station broadcasting live from Staffordshire University) and they also gained historical photography knowledge in the dark room where students were guided through the stages of image development in the early part of the 20th century.  

Overall, the trip was a huge success and students were provided with an insight into higher education courses at the university, as well knowledge and understanding of the production processes involved in traditional media broadcasting.
