Beyond remarkable: record-breaking results for Class of 2025

Birkenhead Sixth Form College students have achieved unprecedented success in this year’s A Level, BTEC, and T Level results – surpassing last year’s outstanding performance and cementing the College’s position among the top three sixth form colleges in the country.

The achievements are opening doors to some of the UK’s most competitive universities, prestigious apprenticeships, and high-quality employment opportunities. 51% of students have achieved the highest A Level grades, with offers secured for courses including medicine, law, and psychology at leading institutions. Overall, 538 students secured a place at their first choice university.

Principal Mike Kilbride said:

“Last year our results were described by independent analysts as remarkable. That we have not just repeated that level of performance but bettered it shows that what others define as remarkable is simply what we do; our normal now seems to have gone beyond remarkable.

Our fantastic results are not a surprise – they are the consequence of rigorous processes deployed by expert staff in a College where we believe that everything matters. I would like to congratulate the students — they have been a great cohort, they have earned their outcomes and should take a little time to now celebrate their achievements.”

He also paid tribute to the dedication of the College’s staff:

“I must also pay enormous tribute to the College staff, all of them teachers and support staff, who create the environment and ethos that allow our students to succeed. What we do each year is not easy — it requires consistent hard work against extremely high standards. The staff who deliver against this deserve the utmost respect and admiration.

It might be a failing of mine, but I do find it difficult to dwell on success. I am already thinking of the next few years and all the exciting developments we have in the pipeline. Birkenhead Sixth Form College is certainly the place to be in the coming years.”

Among the outstanding achievers was Kaitlin, who credited the support of her teachers and the resources provided by the MDV (Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary) Programme for helping her prepare for the stages of her medicine application, including interviews.

Scott achieved A*, A*, A at A Level and has secured a place at the University of Oxford to study English Literature and Language. His mum, Jane, said:

“I am really pleased and impressed with the support that Scott has received from Birkenhead Sixth Form College. His teachers have been excellent and it has been great that he has made a close network of friends at the College to support him as well.”
