The College was brimming with festive spirit as students and staff came together for a joyful Christmas Carnival, celebrating community, creativity and generosity in the lead-up to the Christmas holidays.
The carnival featured a fantastic range of activities, including a high-energy Santa Dash, Christmas crafts, board games, a festive Breakout challenge, a cosy Christmas film screening, a lively debate asking “Is Santa real?”, a fun-filled Christmas quiz, and a competitive spelling bee.
Alongside these activities, the College was transformed into a winter wonderland with hot chocolate stalls and cake stalls, where staff and students baked and sold delicious festive treats. Craft stalls showcased handmade items such as crochet candy canes, stockings and festive friendship bracelets, all made by students from Crochet Club and Taylor Swift Society.
The carnival atmosphere continued with traditional carnival games, a crowd-favourite rodeo reindeer, an igloo photobooth, and even a very special visit from real reindeer Cupid and Comet, much to the delight of the College community.
One of the standout moments of the day was the Ice Bucket Challenge, where four brave members of staff volunteered to be ice-bucketed in support of Maggie’s. The member of staff who raised the funds, and therefore took the plunge, was Deputy Principal Rob, adding to the fun and festive atmosphere of the day.
The entire day was held in aid of Maggie’s, with the College Christmas Carnival raising over £1,100 for the charity.
Festive celebrations continued throughout the week as the College community enjoyed the annual Christmas dinner and took part in the Christmas door decorating competition. This year’s competition was won by the LAB staff, whose entry, “The Christmas Positivity Tree”, impressed judges with its thoughtful messages of positivity and festive joy written by students, a wonderful way to spread Christmas cheer across the College.
The Christmas Carnival is just one of the many events the College runs throughout the year to enrich student life, offering opportunities beyond the classroom to build community, develop creativity and enjoy shared experiences.
With generosity, creativity and community spirit at its heart, the College’s Christmas celebrations were a fitting and memorable way to mark the festive season.
