Birkenhead Sixth Form College is celebrating a landmark achievement, with over 950 new students enrolled this September – meaning the College is now fully subscribed for entry in 2025.
This follows the College’s exceptional A Level results this summer, which were described as ‘beyond remarkable’ and have once again confirmed Birkenhead Sixth Form College’s standing as one of the top three sixth form colleges in the country.
Principal Mike Kilbride MBE said:
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome over 950 new students to our College community this year. Being fully subscribed is a clear sign of the trust that families place in us and the outstanding success of our students. I regret, however, that we are now having to turn away students for whom we would be the best choice, but the site is physically full.”
He added:
“We have previously discussed this with the Local Authority, but they have not been prepared to work with us to find a solution that would allow us to offer places to all the students who want to take advantage of what we have to offer. Our ‘beyond remarkable’ A Level results showed the incredible achievements that young people can reach when given the right support, challenge, and opportunities. Being recognised as one of the top three sixth form colleges nationally is not just a badge of honour, but a responsibility we take seriously – to continue raising aspirations and delivering excellence for every single student.”
The College continues to grow its reputation for excellence, attracting students from across the region thanks to its unique combination of high academic standards, dedicated teaching staff, and an inclusive community that supports every learner to achieve their potential.
This year’s record-breaking enrolment and the fact that the College is now fully subscribed demonstrate the strong demand for places at Birkenhead Sixth Form College, cementing its position as the College of choice for ambitious students seeking success at A Level and beyond.
