Birkenhead Sixth Form College students are celebrating exceptional success in this year’s A Level and BTEC results, with the Class of 2026 reaching new heights and continuing the College’s outstanding record of academic achievement. Results of this calibre reinforce Birkenhead Sixth Form College’s position as one of the top three sixth form colleges in the country.
This year, 53% of students achieved high grades, reflecting the ambition and hard work of students across the College, supported by expert teaching, high expectations and an unwavering focus on helping every student achieve their potential.
Students are now progressing to some of the UK’s most competitive universities, prestigious apprenticeships and high-quality employment opportunities, with offers secured for a wide range of courses and career pathways, including medicine, law, psychology and many more. Overall, 94% of students secured a place at their first choice university.
Principal Rob Myatt said:
“This is an incredibly proud day for everyone at Birkenhead Sixth Form College. The Class of 2026 has reached new heights, and these exceptional results reflect the ambition, commitment and hard work of our students over the past two years. Every student collecting their results today has their own story and their own achievements to celebrate, and they should be enormously proud of what they have accomplished.
These results are also a testament to the expertise and dedication of our teaching and support staff, and the consistently high standards we set as a College. Our staff play an enormous part in creating the environment in which our students can thrive.
Students leave us ready to take their next steps with confidence, whether that is university, an apprenticeship or employment, and we are incredibly excited to see what they achieve next. I also want to thank their families for the encouragement and support they have given them throughout their time with us.
In September, we will welcome a new cohort with ambitions of their own. The Class of 2026 has shown what is possible here, and I look forward to seeing our new students begin writing their own success stories.”
Among this year’s outstanding achievers is Freya, who achieved A*, A and B and is off to the University of Oxford to study History.
Daniel achieved A*, A* and A and has secured a place at the University of Liverpool to study Computer Science and Maths.
Having joined us from The Birkenhead Park School, Chisom has achieved her dream of studying Medicine at Keele University after smashing her A Levels with A*, A and A grades.
Jack is off to University of Edinburgh to study Ecological Environmental Sciences, achieving A*, A and A.
Also celebrating is Nadeem, who is off to Liverpool John Moores University to study Cyber Security. His mum, Fentushi, recognised the role the College played in Nadeem’s success: “I just want to take the opportunity to say thank you to everybody. It takes a village, not just teaching and leadership but support staff as well. So, this is a big thank you from all of us parents and carers and students.”
As the Class of 2026 takes its next steps into university, apprenticeships and employment, students leave Birkenhead Sixth Form College with much to celebrate and exciting futures ahead. Their achievements mark another exceptional year for the College – and set the bar high for the next generation of students beginning their journey in September.
