Image of Students Gain Real-World Insight Through Law Visiting Speaker Programme

This week marked the conclusion of our four-week Law Visiting Speaker Programme, giving students a valuable opportunity to explore the legal profession beyond the classroom.

The programme brought together a range of experienced professionals, including a Magistrate, Judge, Solicitor and Barrister, offering students a comprehensive insight into how the justice system operates in practice. Through a series of engaging sessions, students heard first-hand accounts of legal careers, gaining a deeper understanding of the varied roles within the profession.

Each speaker shared their personal career journey, provided an overview of their day-to-day responsibilities and offered practical advice on pathways into law. These real-world perspectives helped bring classroom learning to life and supported students in considering their own future career options.

The inclusion of both a magistrate and a judge allowed students to explore how decisions are made within the courts, while sessions led by a solicitor and barrister highlighted the distinct roles involved in preparing and presenting cases. Together, the programme offered a well-rounded view of how legal professionals work collaboratively within the justice system.

Assistant Principal and Head of Law, Jen Ludwig, said: “The Visiting Speaker Programme has definitely inspired our students and gave them the confidence to chase their dreams. Seeing a former student who was in their shoes not long ago, as well as hearing the successes achieved from the speakers who have come from similar backgrounds, has made a career in Law much more possible. I'm excited to see where the future of our next generation of Legal Eagles takes them.”

The success of the programme reflects the College’s commitment to providing enriching opportunities that enhance students’ academic experience and prepare them for future careers.
