Image of Applying for UCAS: Our Top Tips!

What should I be doing to prepare my application for University?

  1. Make sure you have registered with UCAS and have your username and password in a safe place – you’ll need these to access and monitor your application, right up until you start University.
  2. Start filling in your UCAS form – including personal details and qualifications you have achieved and are studying for.
  3. Research the courses you are interested in and the Universities that offer them. Take care to note the entry requirements and course content. All this information can be found at www.ucas.com
  4. Be drafting and re-drafting your Personal Statement – this cannot be written in an evening, but needs to be done over a period of time with input from your tutor. There are lots of resources we can provide you with to help you decide what to write and how best to structure it. Make sure the finished result does you and your achievements justice!

Remember you must have submitted your UCAS form to College by the 3rd December – that’s less than 9 weeks away! If you are applying to Oxford or Cambridge Universities, or to study Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science, the deadline for your UCAS application is the 15th October 2013.
