Birkenhead Sixth Form College is celebrating national recognition after receiving an award at the Sixth Form Colleges Association (SFCA) annual conference for its outstanding commitment to health and wellbeing.
Principal Mike Kilbride MBE, Deputy Principal Rob Myatt and Assistant Principal Student Support Jo Wood were presented with the award on behalf of the College at the conference, recognising the collective commitment of staff to creating a supportive environment where students and colleagues can thrive.
The SFCA annual awards celebrate exceptional practice across the dedicated sixth form sector, recognising colleges that are making a meaningful and lasting difference to the lives of young people through innovation, collaboration and excellence.
Birkenhead Sixth Form College's award-winning submission showcased the College's comprehensive approach to supporting the health and wellbeing of its students and staff. The recognition reflects the College's ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where every individual can thrive both academically and personally.
Deputy Principal Rob Myatt said:
"As a College, the health and wellbeing of both students and staff is a priority, so it is great to be recognised by the SFCA for our efforts in this respect. The College being involved in the latest research on smartphone use was particularly rewarding. Not only did it encourage students to re-evaluate their screen time and relationship with their phone, it also assisted the research team in influencing public policy."
The judging panel highlighted the exceptionally high standard of entries received this year. With so many examples of outstanding practice from colleges across the country, being recognised is a significant achievement.
The award further reinforces Birkenhead Sixth Form College's reputation for providing an exceptional student experience, placing wellbeing alongside academic excellence to help students succeed during their time at College and beyond.
