Image of Students and their Parents enjoyed visiting The Sixth Form College for our Open Morning Event

We had an excellent turnout of students and parents at our Open Morning held at The Sixth Form College on Saturday.

During the morning, students and parents were able to visit each subject department to speak with our specialist tutors about what each choice involves and how we can support students to ensure they are able to tailor a programme of study most suited to them and their future career aspirations. According to a recent report from OFSTED, offering a limited choice of courses can significantly affect student's results, which is why we’re proud to offer more A Level and BTEC choices than anywhere in Wirral.

Visitors enjoyed taking a look around the fantastic facilities including our Learning Resource Centre - The Hub, our dedicated Microsoft Training room, our modern Science Labs, The School of Art and Design and the College’s free Multigym. Our team of student ambassadors were also present throughout the morning to guide students around the college and answer questions on their experiences so far as Sixth Form College students.

Our Principal, Kathryn Podmore and Deputy Principal, Mike Kilbride held a talk during the morning on what makes us Wirral’s Number One Sixth Form and how we achieve our established record of excellence in delivering education for 16-19 year olds in Wirral. Students were able to discover more about our Honours Programme with Assistant Principal Kate Rigby explaining how we can support high achieving students through a tailored academic programme and progress to a leading UK university, as well as learning more about the support available at The Sixth Form College from our Head of Learning Support, Sharon Kieran in the Learning Assistance Base.
