Motivated students Chloe Spree and Georgia Garland gained an insight into their chosen careers this summer by completing work experience at some of Britain’s most prestigious Banking and Law firms.

Chloe Spree, from Oldershaw is currently studying Economics, Mathematics, Law and General Studies at the College and has ambitions to work within the finance industry. Chloe gained a work experience placement with leading finance firm, J.P Morgan on their ‘Aspiring Professional’s Programme’ – a two week programme which took place during the Summer Holidays. Based in London, Chloe was able to attend numerous sessions related to banking and finance and even gained experience on the trading floor.

Chloe found the placement to be a worthwhile experience stating: “I gained a lot of valuable insight into the banking industry, and how important it is to work hard and strive to do your best as even the smallest contributions have a big impact. I also really enjoyed my time in London and got to see some of the famous sites whilst I was there.”

After completing her A Levels at The Sixth Form College, Chloe plans to join the KPMG School Leavers Programme - a 6-year programme that offers trainees the chance to obtain a University degree and a professional accounting qualification.

Chloe added, “The summer placement with J.P Morgan has motivated me to continue to work hard on my studies to fulfil my potential.”

Law student Georgia Garland, who also studies Psychology and English Literature at the College, also gained a work experience placement this summer at prestigious Law Firm, Weightmans Solicitors, in their Liverpool Office. Georgia was given the opportunity to shadow professional solicitors working on current cases and was also given access to former cases to see if she reached the same conclusion as the solicitor and Judge.

Georgia, from Pensby, stated, “It has been fantastic to gain first-hand experience of working at a major law firm. It has reinforced my desire to study Law as it is definitely where I want to take my career in the future.”

Georgia plans to study Law at Nottingham University after completing her A Levels at the College and hopes to become a Barrister.
