The Sixth Form College has invested in advanced technology which will provide students with a more flexible and creative approach to their studies.  Staff and students are now using Microsoft Office 365 Education as part of a drive to support flexible working, anytime and anywhere.

As part of the package, everyone at the college will now have access to a range of valuable software programmes and tools, including 50GB mailbox, SkyDrive Pro – a cloud storage service with 25GB storage capacity– Microsoft Office Web Apps and Microsoft Project Online.

All the programmes are now available to students and staff on a wide range of devices, at no extra cost.  By providing the students with these productivity tools, the college aims to help the next generation of technology and business leaders to reach their full potential.

The Sixth Form College is both a Microsoft IT Academy and Microsoft Training Centre, enabling it to offer computer training and support packages to the wider community as well as local businesses. The college is one of a handful of education providers in the North West to hold both statuses.

Steve Beswick, Director of Education at Microsoft, said: “We are delighted with the strategic approach to our solutions that Birkenhead Sixth Form College has taken for the benefit of their students and local employers.  We look forward to building on this relationship to ensure that the college and its graduates have a unique opportunity to succeed in the future.”
