No Sign of Austerity as Chris Joins England Cricket Team for Houses of Parliament Reception

Birkenhead Sixth Form College student Chris Edwards, who was named Disability Cricketer of the Year in May, joined his cricketing heroes at a Champagne Reception in Westminster last week (18.10.10).

Batsman and seam bowler Chris was invited to join the England Cricket Team at the Houses of Parliament prior to their departure for Australia to defend the ashes. Chris was delighted to meet cricketing greats Nasser Hussain, David Collier, Ashley Giles and Steve Finn as well as the MPs who make up the Parliamentary Cricketing Team.

“It was a great day,” said Chris. “I hope the team can now successfully defend the ashes.”

Chris is studying Sport and Exercise Science at Birkenhead Sixth Form College. He plays for Caldy 1st Team and is training for his next international challenge when the England Disability Cricket Team tour South Africa in 2011.
