Head Girl, Ellie Jones, organised a Coffee Morning and Bake Sale at The Sixth Form College this week to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Care.

Ellie and her fellow Health & Social Care students sold tickets to staff and students for a cake and hot beverage and provided a selection of sweet treats to purchase including home-made cakes and cookies. Coffee and Tea were served in China cups and a memory tree was available to leave messages for loved ones that have battled with cancer.

Aspiring nurse, Ellie who joined The Sixth Form College from South Wirral High School, was overwhelmed by the success of the event, "The generosity shown by everyone has been amazing! So far we've raised over £128 with donations still coming in. The work MacMillan do is so important and inspirational - it feels good to be able to contribute to this."

MacMillan's goal is to make sure no one faces cancer alone, providing medical, emotional, practical and financial support, as well as campaigning for better cancer care. They also provide support for friends and family of those affected by Cancer. The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Last year alone the charity raised £25 million and are aiming higher each year.
