Year 1 Media students headed to Wrexham University for a dedicated day put on by the BBC to introduce young people to working in news.

Head of Media at the College, Lauren Maxwell, explained:

Students were provided with an insight into the industry of broadcast journalism at the BBC Young Reporter Day at Wrexham University last week, hearing from experts in the field of reporting. Throughout the day, students attended talks from influential people working in the industry, and gained knowledge and understanding of what makes award-winning content via masterclasses. The latest tips and practical advice for what it takes to get their first job in the media was offered by the BBC professionals and the students also had a go at spotting fake news online, as well as gaining practical skills creating their own news content for news broadcasting in podcasting workshops.
