Image of Sixth Form College Bus Service Expands to include South Wirral Service

From September 2014 a brand new subsidised bus service will carry students from the South Wirral area to The Sixth Form College. The new service follows on from the success of the subsidised bus routes from the Heswall, Pensby and Irby areas which was put in place by the College for the current academic year. The services are designed to provide students with an economical, dedicated direct bus service to and from the college, cutting their expense and travel time.

Due to a substantial College subsidy the new buses will cost students the equivalent of £50 per term, working out at less than 40p per journey.

The new buses are in addition to a FREE shuttle bus service operating from Hamilton Square each morning and supplement a range of Merseytravel school and bus services helping students travel to college. For full details please visit our Getting to College section.

Travel to school, college or sixth form can be a deciding factor for many young people when they have to choose where to study. Kate Rigby, Assistant Principal said:

‘We’re introducing new services because we receive a large number of applications from these areas and we want to ensure students are able to get to college easily and quickly. Young people from across Wirral should consider Wirral’s sixth form college an option and benefit from the opportunities we offer. We expect the new service from South Wirral to be very popular.’

Bus passes will be available to purchase from the college from July onwards and by students enrolling in 2014 at their New Student Induction sessions.

Students in the applicable areas can give their postcode and ‘reserve’ a place on the college services by emailing Karen Alcock, Admissions Manager.

Services will arrive at college by 8.45 am and will depart at 4.30pm.
