The college offers wide range of courses:
Musical Theatre BTEC Level 3 Diploma
Entry Requirements
Normal BSFC entry requirements for an AS programme of study
It is not necessary to have studied Drama, Dance or Music at GCSE but you must be prepared to take part in practical sessions in each of the three art forms. It would be an advantage to have experience in at least one of the three areas.
You must be a confident and committed performer and have a passion for musical theatre. There will be an informal audition in the June prior to entry to college which you must attend.
About the Subject
The Diploma is a two year course which is equivalent to two A levels.
During the course you will develop your skills in all three art forms - acting, singing and dance. Each art form will be explored separately, focussing on improving your technique, knowledge and performance ability in each area. This study will lead to workshop performances in front of an audience.

General Information
The second year of the Diploma includes the following further units:-
- Performance Workshop
- The Performing Arts Business
- Drama Improvisation
- Developing Voice for the Actor
- Developing Contemporary Dance
- Exploring Contact Improvisation
All units are assessed in the same way – they are a combination of teacher assessment of your contribution to practical workshops, a written portfolio and a recorded performance.
All of the units focus on skill development, you will spend much of your time working in groups on practical projects and should recognise the commitment that this requires.
As a requirement of the course you will take part in public performances; we will also expect you to join the choir and smaller vocal ensembles where appropriate and will offer you the opportunity to see live theatre.
What Next?
This course is for students who are keen and committed performers and want to develop their skills and knowledge. It complements the AS/A2 courses offered within this subject area (Theatre Studies, Dance and Music) and will also go alongside other advanced courses such as Media and English.
The Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to one A level and the Diploma is equivalent to two A levels. Both are fully recognised by HE institutions.
