PTLLS - Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector - Level 4

COURSE OUTLINE
Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (post 16) is an introductory qualification for all new teachers. It is only valid for the post 16 sector. This qualification provides a basic minimum standard for all those entering the profession. The qualification involves initial assessment of literacy, numeracy and ICT needs and observed practice. Successful completion leads to a ‘threshold licence to practise’.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. Candidates will be expected to have a minimum standard of literacy and numeracy at about Level 2 (GCSE level) and to be educated to Level 3 (GCE ‘A’ level) standard appropriate for a person working at Level 4. METHOD OF ASSESSMENT
These qualifications are centre assessed using a range of assessment strategies, including observation of micro teaching, assignments, reports, journal of teaching and discussion.

  • Design of a Learning Programme
  • Production of a Learning/Personal Development Journal.

Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR) is the awarding body. Passes will be at Level 4.
